The Focus HR Business Excellence Awards 2023 has split the Professional Services category into two.

Both categories include (but are not limited to) legal, accounting and finance, financial planning, mortgage and insurance brokers, real estate, business broking, creative industries (PR, Graphic Design, and Marketing), and human resources; but will be broken up based on the size of the business as Professional Services (Up to 10 Employees) and Professional Services (11 Plus Employees).

Toowoomba Chamber President Kate Venables said, “In 2022, we received feedback from our applicants and judges to split this category into two.
“This category typically receives the most entries for the business excellence awards and businesses with 10 full-time employees or less represent over 60% of our membership base.
“On that basis, it was considered appropriate to split this category into two providing an improved opportunity to judge like for like and further celebrate the amazing work these professional services businesses do for our region”, Kate said.

“Facilitating two awards in this category will enable the event to shine a light even more brightly on the professional services businesses in our region, who are the fourth largest sector by business count.”
Founding Director of Focus HR, Naomi Wilson, said, “It just makes sense to split the Professional Services Award category into two.
“It demonstrates that the Toowoomba Chamber are listening to its applicants, judges and membership base to continue to grow the stature and standing of the awards, which we are so proud to be part of,” Naomi articulated.
