With spring only days away, Queensland’s only Garden City is preparing for an influx of tens of thousands of tourists, who stay overnight and spend money in our local businesses.
Yes, it will soon be the month of September, the month that Carnival arrives in Toowoomba built on the foundation of the remarkable work of our dedicated local gardeners and the rich history of the garden city.
The Toowoomba Chamber is encouraging all CBD businesses to get involved in the spirit of the Carnival by decorating their shop fronts in a way that celebrates this internationally recognised event, with their own personal interpretation of the Carnival of Flowers.

The Toowoomba Chamber’s CBD Revitalisation Committee is urging CBD businesses to decorate their shopfronts to attract increased foot traffic in the CBD during the Carnival of Flowers.

Chief Executive Officer, Todd Rohl

“The reboot of this terrific tradition stems from concerns identified by local businesses of declining foot traffic in the CBD.
“We know in the last two years this concept has increased foot traffic and excitement in the CBD and compliments what has already been planned for the Carnival of Flowers.
“By bringing people into the CBD we are hoping that people will spend money in local eateries, boutiques, and other stores by creating a carnival like atmosphere in the CBD.
“The Toowoomba Chamber will promote all participating local businesses who participate through its print and digital media platforms and is offering $5000 worth or prizes for the best decked out shopfront thanks to our partners CopperBench, Southern Cross Austereo, Little Pig Consulting, The Chronicle and Style Magazine,” Todd said.
