September, is a magical month.  Not too hot.  Not too cold.  Flowers bloom.  Animals born, and the Carnival in the CBD is back again this year.

Spring has arrived.  And Queensland’s only Garden City, perched on the edge of the Great Escarpment with its abundance of parks and treelined streets will receive an influx of tens of thousands of tourists, in this peak tourist month, who stay overnight and spend money in our local businesses.

Yes, Carnival month has arrived.  We are grateful to all the dedicated local gardeners who due to their remarkable contribution and dedication, this rich tradition was built.

Carnival in the CBD

As part of this celebration, thirty-five local businesses are getting involved in the spirit of the Carnival by decorating their shop fronts in the CBD in a way that celebrates this internationally recognised event, with their own personal interpretation of the Carnival of Flowers.

The reboot of this terrific tradition is all about getting Toowoomba residents and visitors into the CBD.

Reimagined Carnival in the CBD

Since the reboot of this tradition over the last two years, we know that this concept has increased foot traffic and excitement in the CBD and compliments what has already been planned for the Carnival of Flowers.

By bringing people into the CBD we are hoping that people will spend money in local eateries, boutiques, and other stores by creating a carnival like atmosphere in the CBD.

But that is not all.  We want visitors to explore city’s the laneway culture, hidden bars and coffee shops.  Experience the great food options in a CBD with a country feel, but metropolitan approach.

The CBD stands proud as the diamond of the region.

But let’s get our visitors not to stop there.  After visiting the CBD and all it has to offer, the Toowoomba Chamber encourages people to visit the regions other beautiful gems.  The townships of Oakey,  Crows Nest, Goombungee, and Pittsworth and Millmerran and the like with their traditional main streets and country hospitality.

The Toowoomba Chamber thanks all local businesses who are participating and our partners CopperBench, Southern Cross Austereo, Little Pig Consulting, The Chronicle and Style Magazine.

We urge all residents and visitors to get into the CBD this September and explore.  Visit the beautiful shopfronts of our participating local businesses and explore what else is on offer in the CBD.
