CHRONICLE COLUMN: 20 May 2025 | Inland Rail – Have your Say
The Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce strongly supports the transformative Inland Rail project, recognising its potential to deliver lasting economic and business benefits to our region.
As a once-in-a-generation infrastructure investment, Inland Rail will strengthen Toowoomba’s position as a key logistics and freight hub, enabling faster, more efficient transport of goods between Brisbane and Melbourne. This improved connectivity is expected to attract new industries, expand local supply chains, and drive job creation across a range of sectors—from agriculture to manufacturing and logistics.
The Inland Rail Project is not just about freight!
For Toowoomba’s business community, this means more opportunities to grow, diversify and compete on a national scale. The Inland Rail project is not just about moving freight—it’s about unlocking regional prosperity and ensuring Toowoomba remains a thriving economic centre into the future.
We acknowledge that with such a major infrastructure development comes community interest and concern. That’s why the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the project is now open for public comment until 7 July. This is a vital opportunity for residents and stakeholders to have their say, ask questions, and contribute to shaping how this project moves forward.
