I thoroughly enjoyed the Networking and Communication Skills Workshop with Nicholas Purdie from Southern Cross Austereo. Nick is a great communicator, the workshop was fun and engaging, and the mentees were able to work in smaller groups and really get to know each other. The presentation about different communication styles is something we can all use in our workplaces and tips and tricks about networking made us all more confident

My main take away from the Networking & Communication Skills workshop are the 4 different types of communication styles and some of the strategies on how to work with people with different communication styles. I think this is really applicable when it comes to working with my colleagues to develop good and harmonious relationships with them. I also work with different stakeholders and by mapping their communication style when I develop my ideas pitch it increases the success rate on forming partnership with them.

I found the workshop fun yet educational. It was a good reminder about different communication types and I enjoyed having a handout to identify mine. Nick passed on valuable knowledge to the cohort through sharing his own experiences and running activities that helped us identify strengths and weaknesses in our individual communication styles. The workshop was fun and light-hearted but also had extremely useful themes. There were certain methods specific to networking that I had never heard of before and we went through those using live examples – I found this super useful and shared them with my colleagues who also had not heard of them before
