Toowoomba Business Excellence Awards

– Celebrating Economic Vitality and Quality of Life

The Toowoomba Business Excellence Awards is the networking event of the year.  It’s also a celebration of the business community’s contribution to the economic vitality and quality of life in the region.

With a guest list of 600 that read like a “who’s who” of the business community, small, medium and large businesses will once again be represented at the event on Saturday 28th August 2010 at Rumours International.

President of the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Geoff McDonald, believes the Awards help raise the profile of businesses that are committed to excellence.

“The Toowoomba Business Excellence Awards is an opportunity to honour the diversity, innovation and excellence of Toowoomba’s businesses, small, medium and large,” he said.

“Our business community provides products, services and jobs for the region which enables us all to enjoy a fabulous quality of life. Each business provides something unique that adds character and richness to the region and our local culture.  We are pleased to reward excellence and recognize the leaders in their fields.

Goeff said receiving a Business Excellence Award was a prestigious endorsement of an organisation.

“There’s no doubt that the kudos from winning an award carries over a long period of time, however all applicants benefit from being part of the awards process. We have found that the application process itself helps businesses review their performance and focus on core strengths and goals. It’s also a good way to benchmark against others in similar industries.”

Owner of CEO Office Concepts, a 2008 Category Winner, Craig Hess said the Awards application process provided an ideal opportunity for detailed planning.

“If you’re striving for excellence, the awards application process will help you raise the bar,” he said.  “The process is a great opportunity to evaluate and plan for the future because it makes you really think about your current situation, where you want to go and how you’re going to get there.

“For us, winning the award in 2008 was also terrific for staff morale. It was a real validation of my team’s hard work, excellent standard of service and customer care. You can’t buy that!”

Last year's Toowoomba Business Excellence Awards were supported once again by major sponsor, Heritage Business Banking. There were nine categories in covering everything from Hospitality & Tourism to Professional & Business.  There’s also the Best Regional Business, Best New Business, and the prestigious Heritage Building Society Business of the Year Award and of course the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce & Industry 'Business Hall of Fame'.

Geoff McDonald said he hoped the awards would also inspire businesses to overcome challenges and learn from the achievement of others.

“There can only be one winner in each category,” he said. “But there’s a lot to be learned from winners and we hope everyone gains something positive from the Awards and that they demonstrate resilience by coming back fitter and stronger next year.”
